Say hello
A phone consultation is our first introduction after filling out the contact form. From there, you’ll receive a custom proposal with the collections of your choice. Book with a contract signature and service retainer.

Coordinate details
Derek will communicate with you and/or your planner to confirm details, prepare a photography timeline, and otherwise keep the preparation light and easy on your end.

Take engagement photos
If included with your collection, schedule an engagement session to take intimate portraits of just the two of you.

Get married
Known for blending in and making simple poses feel like “magic,” Derek will be there to document the favorite captures of a story you’ll tell for life.

Receive the photographs
Once the film scans have been processed (this can take some time, but it is well worth the wait) and the full collection of digital and film imagery has been edited one by one, you'll receive a link to download, save, share and soak up the moments all over again.

How do you describe your style?
The two words Derek often falls back on are timeless and romantic. He wants the images to feel unrestricted and unaffected by trends, and yet, infused with the emotions that come with a love story like yours.
Can you explain how you use film and digital photography?
With the knowledge that film has made Derek a better and more intentional photographer, he uses this slower, more timeless medium (his Contax 645) to capture showcase portraits like your bridal party and couple portraits too. Digital photographs are taken in tandem throughout the day for safekeeping, and he often uses a 35mm camera for the reception. It’s a matter of using the medium that will best fit the environment and subject.
Will you pose us?
Most of Derek’s couples want a chic, candid look, but need the warm and easygoing guidance of an expert to pull it off. So, Derek will show you a handful of easy poses that achieve the styled, natural look you want. In all, he’ll suggest poses as needed and will otherwise capture the scenes of the wedding as they occur.
Can we add on videography too?
Yes! Simply mention this on your contact form and Derek will explain how he, and his talented team of creatives, will photograph and record footage of your wedding.
How far out should we book?
Derek is currently booking for 2024, so the sooner you get in touch, the more likely it is that you can reserve your date(s) with him. He limits the number of weddings he takes on to provide a seamless experience leading up to the wedding, and afterward when the images and film are edited.
Do you offer a sneak peek of photos?
Yes — you can look forward to a sneak peek within the month of your wedding. This will be just after your honeymoon, or perhaps while you’re still relaxing on the beach!
